It feels like just yesterday that I started my freshman year of college and yet it has already come time for me to start prepping for my school midterms. For those of you already in school, if you are anything like me, you need some music to help you study or relax through this stressful period in your lives. For the lucky ones who have still somehow not started school, you can test these out in advance. Its always better to be prepared, right? So for the sad group of us who still have to go to school, I am recommending four playlists to listen to while prepping for midterms (and finals when they happen.)
1. Yiruma’s Collection of Music
Do you have a breadth/general ed class that you need to study for that you really like? Are you trying to remain calm in the face of the impending doom that your grade will become? Listen to the Yiruma Collection of Music. I’ve previously recommended Yiruma to students who are trying to study. Some specific song recommendations are “Kiss the Rain” and “When the Love Falls,” both brilliantly soothing pieces that are a great complement to taking those practice tests.
2. Spotify’s Pop Chillout Playlist
Do you have to study for a class that involves rote memorization and/or constant practice problems? Say, Calculus or Statistics? If so, I suggest Spotify’s Pop Chillout Playlist. This playlist is perfect for when you don’t have to put in immense amounts of concentration and need something to distract you from the mind numbing boredom that studying this subject may cause. The songs in this playlist are something that you can have playing in the background and take mini breaks to jam out to. But at the same time, you won’t have to worry about getting too distracted by the music.
3. White Noise
Are you freaking the hell out about studying? Do you feel like you spend hours not getting anything done even though you aren’t distracted? Then, as recommended by my roommate, listen to white noise while you’re working. It will satisfy your craving for some kind of noise aside from your own breathing and the scritch-scratch of a pencil while helping you be more focused and less stressed. Good luck on your CS midterm, because this is crucial for the CS and Engineering kids.
4. Disney Classical Music by Natasha Borja Chavarro
Do you have a Reading and Comp midterm to study for? Something that you need some inspiration for? Do you want to feel nostalgia? I would like to introduce you to the Disney Classical Music playlist on Spotify. Get your creative juices flowing while dreaming about being part of a world with people who’ve already declared their majors. Study while thinking about how you can go the distance across campus to your test.
I wish you all the best of luck on your midterms and hope that these music recommendations help!
