Halloween can be the best and most stressful time of the year. You can't deny that there have been a couple of years where you lost track of time and suddenly the spooky holiday was only a day away! Then you're stuck rushing to put together a cute yet identifiable costume, resulting in having to sport something that let's just face it—doesn't showcase your best effort. Well, before you knew it a year passed and now you're right back where you started! But, have no fear because your costume won't be a half-assed attempt this year (well, at least no one will know it was)! With these 4 awesome costumes, which you probably already own all the necessary components to, you're sure to top this year's Halloween party or whatever festivity you choose to partake in!

1. Joyce Byers from Stranger Things

You can easily put together a costume to represent the eccentric mother Winona Ryder played in the Netflix original, "Stranger Things" with just a few items. The most essential component of this costume is a green parka similar to the one she wears in so many of the episodes.

If you don't have one of these, a rugged jean or corduroy jacket would work just as well! Under your jacket, you should rock a simple long or short sleeve striped tee or sweater... really anything that exemplifies the '80s! Then, wear a simple pair of dark boot-cut jeans or corduroys that channel your inner mom. Keep your hair messy; and, lastly, when deciding on shoes, you should go with a pair of old sneakers (i.e. converse, sketchers, or reeboks)! If you really want to go all out, bring along some props; such as, a fake ax and some christmas lights.

2. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games

Be the ultimate face of girl power dressed as the fierce rebel from "The Hunger Games" for Halloween.

All you really need for this costume is braided hair, a pair of cargo-green skinnies, a black v-neck, and a grungy jacket. Katniss' style is very modern, making it easy to channel the character with items you already have in your closet. You could pass as the female fighter in a denim, leather, or cargo jacket. Wear boots or studded booties to really pull your outfit together; and, if you really want to be identified as Katniss, wear a mockingjay pin and a bag of arrows!

3. Jessica Jones from the Netflix Original

With a black leather jacket, a good pair of jeans, and black boots you're ready to save the city...or the Halloween party! To represent Jones perfectly, you should be dressed in light-wash jeans and a grey or black tank top under your leather jacket. Also, because the first season was set in the brisk winter, add a grey scarf and fingerless gloves to your ensemble, similar to the ones Jones wore on her escapades throughout New York City. Leave your hair down and as plain as possible.

4. Merida from Brave

If you have a lot of curly hair, this is the character for you! If not, grab a curling wand and get some kinks in there! Any length dark-green or blue dress will help you get in character for this warrior of a woman for the night. As for shoes, go with a pair of brown boots, preferably ones that have laces. Carry a bow and a bag of arrows to really capture the fierceness that Princess Merida embodies. Happy Halloweening!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."
