I love food. A lot. One of my favorite things to do while I'm away at school is to go out and get something to eat with my friends or to order in some delicious treats. Being an Arcadia student in the exciting town of Glenside, PA, you would think you would have to go into the heart of the city to find the best food, right? Wrong! There are some delicious little gems right in the surrounding area that are to die for! Here are some of my favorite spots:
1. Humpty Dumplings
Humpty Dumplings aren't your traditional dumplings. Located in Keswick Village, a subsection of Glenside, Humpty Dumplings makes dumplings with variety of different fillings. Buffalo chicken, roasted pork, apple pie, cheese steak, and cheesecake are just a few of the delectable varieties Humpty Dumplings provides to it's adoring fans. They also make noodles and salads if dumplings aren't your forte.
2. Blue Comet
This little hole in the wall located by the Glenside train station is probably one of my favorite restaurants ever! It's old school feel and classy charm makes coming in a real treat. Their appetizers and entrees are always spectacular and there's always something different to try from their special's menu. In addition to the indoor seating, they also have a small courtyard behind the restaurant where customers can enjoy a beautiful day along with their food.
3. Keswick Tavern
The Keswick Tavern is another one of my favorite places to go and eat because of the shear portions they give you. On more than one occasion, I have had to box up the food I had gotten from here and save it for another meal. You definitely get more bang for your buck here! Keswick Tavern offers a multitude of wings, burgers, sandwiches, and other pub foods to help get you ready for game day!
4. Jasmine Asian Bistro
Although I've only eaten here a few times, I have always been dazzled by the amazing variety that Jasmine brings to its menu. Everything I've had there has been absolutely delicious and I cannot recommend this classy Chinese style restaurant enough!
There are so many other food places in Glenside that have captured my heart and my stomach, but if I would've listed all of them this article would've gone on forever. The main point I'm trying to get at is that there are hidden gems everywhere. Just because a restaurant doesn't have a chain or isn't in a major city doesn't mean it's not worth trying. I encourage all of you to go on a culinary exploration of your neighborhood and who knows. Maybe you'll find your new favorite restaurant!
