College can get the best and the worst of us. Sometimes it's amazing; we have our friends, go to parties, get a great grade on a test or an essay, and we feel like we're on top of the world. Other times, though, we want to hang our heads in shame and we really don't think graduating is possible. And in desperate times, the thought of giving it all up might cross our minds. We've all been there, but there are a few things you should remember when the going gets really really tough.
1. College is only temporary.
Nothing lasts forever, especially not college. Yes, four years might seem like a long time, but the amount of work to do combined with the good times you have with your friends will make it go by in the blink of an eye.
2. You're here so one day you can do what you love.
Do you really wanna work at a grocery store or a restaurant forever? If you do, that's okay, but you're more than likely here so that you won't have to do that until you retire, so that you can have the job you've always dreamed of.
3. You still have room to have fun.
Once you graduate, partying on a Thursday night and being able to sleep it off the next day will basically be nonexistent. This is your last chance to have fun and not give a crap about anything, so take advantage of any free moment you have to have a little fun.
4. You didn't come this far to quit.
All of those years of elementary, middle, and high school weren't for nothing. You're in the home stretch of your education, it's practically done. Don't quit when the end is in plain sight.
No college is not always fun and games. It is an immense amount of work and very stressful, but it's not for nothing. You will come out on top and it will be so worth it. Don't let it get you down. Remember these four things every now and then, and you'll be reminded of why you came to college in the first place.
