Halloween has come and gone, and now everyone's getting ready for the next holiday: Christmas! Oh wait, we're forgetting something. That's right, what about Thanksgiving? Due to the fact that it's stuck between two other significant holidays, Thanksgiving often doesn’t get much excitement. Thanksgiving isn't my favorite holiday, but I still enjoy celebrating it.
It seems like everyone seems to have forgotten the this holiday. Even the stores are hardly selling Thanksgiving decorations. Instead they are bringing out the Christmas decorations and "Jingle Bell Rock" is playing on the radio. Thanksgiving gives us a chance to sit back and enjoy time with our family and be thankful for our lives. I don't want to skip that day.
Here are 4 reasons why we shouldn't skip Thanksgiving:
1. Family Time
Family time is my favorite thing about Thanksgiving. Everyone, including aunts, uncles, and cousins, come together to spend time with one another. Sometimes you even meet family members you had no idea existed! Along with that awkwardness, there is an overwhelming feeling of togetherness and warmth.
2. Tons of Amazing Food
Thanksgiving dinner: eating as much food as you can until you just cant fit anymore; usually consisting of turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, pie, etc.
3. Thanksgiving break
A break from school is never a bad thing!
4. A Day of Appreciation
Sometimes we don’t recognize or fully appreciate how fortunate we are. Thanksgiving literally means to “giving thanks.” To me, this holiday is to look at the positive aspects of our lives, valuing what we have, and show others how much we appreciate them. A simply "thank you" is enough.
