Four Reasons Why I'm Reluctant To Give Up My Prius
Jannelia Morris

A few months before I graduated high school I got my first car, a car to which this day I'm still driving. There is nothing physically wrong with my Toyota Prius but to me it's not aesthetically pleasing anymore and I would do anything to get a new car - I got mine used, for a first car my parents thought a used one would be better. Fast forward five years later and it's giving me a whole lot of electrical problems which is why I would love nothing better than to get a new car. But here's why I'm also reluctant to give up Lady Green - my grandmother named the car not me.

1. I Fill Up With Twenty Dollars

Every time I get gas I am able to fill up with only twenty dollars. Who else can say that about their car? I got almost nine gallons of gas, the most I've ever gotten when filling up.

2. Loyalty

Even though I want a new car Lady Green has taken me to a lot of places near and far. I got her at fifty-five thousand miles plus and now she has one hundred and eleven thousand five hundred seventy miles. So I basically doubled what she had in a short five years.

3. Payments

Not only would it be sad to give her up for the mileage I get but the fact that I have less than four thousand dollars left to pay off is also another great reason to keep her around for a little while longer.

4. Great Mileage

Ask any Prius owner and they'll tell you that their Prius gets great MPG and Lady Green is no different. When I got her in twenty twelve I drove almost an hour one way to work everyday and would get 55 MPG. Now I'm used to her and like to speed a little more than I did back then so now i get 41.7 MPGs but that's still pretty good considering.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
