4 Reasons Why I Hate The Patriots
The Big Lead

As a resident of the good ole’ state of Georgia and fan of the Atlanta Falcons, it is great to see the Falcons make it into Super Bowl 51. They will match up with the one and only New England Patriots. The Falcons made the playoffs for the first time since 2012 and are going to play in just their second Super Bowl in franchise history. On the other hand, the Patriots are a team that have dominated the AFC and NFL for the last 20 years like no other football team. But I am Falcons fan, so here are four reasons why I hate the New England Patriots.

1) The Yankees of Football

We get it New England. The Tom Brady and Bill Belichick Patriots will go down as one of the best teams ever. This does not mean everybody else cares about this fact. NFL fans are annoyed of Patriots fans, just like MLB fans are annoyed by Yankees fans.

2) The Tuck Rule, Spygate, and Deflategate….

The New England Patriots are simply controversial. Every other year, it seems as if they are plastered on the news for something unethical they did or finding some loophole in the rule book. The worst part is that they claim that they did not do anything wrong. Maybe these events are untrue, but it just seems as if something evil is brewing within the New England Patriots organization.

3) Tom Brady

I actually do not hate Tom Brady. He is a great player on the field and a funny character off the field. I just hate the fact that he is with New England Patriots and not with the Falcons. Tom has managed to be a solid player his entire career. Even when it felt like the odds were against with him he still managed to help his achieve success.

4) The Media

Flip on ESPN or FS1 and all they are talking about is how the New England Patriots have it in the bag. The Patriot’s bandwagon is already full with NFL fans, but the media seems to think that they belong on it too. The Falcons may lack the reputation that Patriots have, but the Falcons have a great team this year.

I share my hate with many other NFL fans out there who would simply be happy with seeing the Patriots lose the Super Bowl. My prediction for Super Bowl 51 is that the Falcons will beat the Patriots. If my prediction is wrong, then there will be five reasons why I hate the Patriots.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
