It was Thursday morning and your bracket was looking mighty fresh - it was absolutely perfect. Zero losses and ready to sit through game after game seeing your teams advance to the next round of the NCAA tournament. But wait, pump the brakes. There were 13 upset matches during the first round of the tournament.
Now what does your bracket look like? Most of you probably stopped paying attention and threw your bracket away. Here are four reasons you shouldn't be upset your bracket is busted:
You now have the time to actually watch basketball. There are some serious match-ups happening in the second and third rounds of the tournament. You can now watch those games without any prior commitment to one team or the other. Will number 4 seed Iowa State come out on top or will number 1 seed Virginia stomp on their dreams of making it the Elite 8?
You can root for the underdog with no guilt. Most people probably picked number two seed Michigan St. to beat number 15 seed Middle Tennessee. I found myself trying to root with my brain, when my heart clearly wanted the underdog to take the win. With a busted bracket, I can cheer for those underdogs and not feel one bit guilty.
There are zero perfect brackets left. After Michigan State lost to Middle Tennessee, there were only 6 perfect brackets left and after Stephen F. Austin's win over West Virginia, the final perfect bracket was busted. Don't beat yourself up, everyone lost.
You have better odds elsewhere. According to the website, MentalFloss there are 15 other things that have better odds than you picking a perfect March Madness Bracket. I'll take my chances with the lottery or winning Plinko on The Price is Right.
You shouldn't be upset your bracket is busted, it's all about the [March] Madness.
