Kentucky rock band, Too Close To Touch, released their second full-length record Haven't Been Myself on September 23, 2016. Fresh off their win for Best Underground Band at the Alternative Press Music Awards, Too Close To Touch unloads the rest of their record to accompany their summer release "What I Wish I Could Forget." This angst-filled record brings back the hardcore roots that this new era of emo kids need. Here are the three songs from the record that you need to be listening to.
1) "Modern Love Affair"
The tragic love song is a staple in every record. "Modern Love Affair" adds the pang of falling for someone who is already with someone else. Lead vocalist Keaton Pierce pulls on your heart strings with every scream. It's the song that pulled me into record and kept me hooked.
Quotable lyric: "Am I a fool for falling for this? Put to the side like I don't exist."
2) "Sympathy
The angst in this song is real. The varying sounds within the whole song contrast perfectly with the meaning behind it. This song is a plea for help while pushing away any advance to help. This is the true epitome of emo angst.
Quotable lyric: "Paper thin your words they haunt my dreams. The seams have come undone."
3) The Art of Eye Contact"
I had someone describe this song as a "male Halsey song." This is honestly my favorite song on this record. The gravel in Pierce's voices compliments the laidback instrumentals of the song. I'm honestly in love with this song.
Quotable lyric: "I'm a sucker for a warm bed, yeah it feels like home."
