You see more and more people attending SUNY schools, and you might be wondering why you should go SUNY? What's so special about these schools? Well if you're curious, or just want validation that choosing a SUNY was the right choice, here are 4 big reasons why you should go to a State University of New York:

1. It's cheaper

Plain and simple. SUNY schools are less expensive than most schools around the country. Especially if you live in New York, you get pretty much the same education at half the cost and we won't be in debt until our kids go to college.

2. The people

Most SUNY students live in New York so you make lots of friends who don't live far from your home town. This comes in handy when you need to catch a ride with someone or during breaks, a trip to see a friend is very doable. Also, at all the universities there are people from the city, upstate and everywhere else in new york, creating so much diversity that you wont believe you're still in the same state.

3. Government funding

Obama put billions towards SUNY renovations and it shows; almost all the universities have beautification and state of the art projects up and running which makes your education more efficient and easier. SUNY schools are receiving new science technologies, thousands of high tech computers, you name it. And with all this talk of free higher education, SUNY's will be the first to drop that tuition!

4. The education

Most importantly, SUNY schools are gaining a new reputation for having some of the best programs in the state. With the rising number of applicants, it's getting harder and harder to get into a SUNY and only taking the most qualified applicants means hiring the best staff to keep up with the best students. You get the same education at a SUNY as most schools around and receiving a degree from a SUNY is quite impressive to employers now a days.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
