Blue skies and sunshine are nice I suppose but, really, nothing compares to gloomy grey skies and rain, especially during the summer.

4. Your lack of motivation is acceptable

Everyone always has a million and one things to do and that list never seems to shrink. But, some days (or most days, as the case may be) you just don’t want to do anything. Rainy days make this stunning lack of motivation completely acceptable. After all, everyone knows that the whole point of rainy days is to lay around doing nothing while listening to the rain.

3. Heat is bearable when it rains

Summer is absolutely, horrendously hot. It’s almost unbearable. But, when it rains in the summer that heat becomes an advantage. Rain in the fall and the winter gives you that cold, wet feeling that sinks into your bones and is impossible to get rid of. In the summer, however, rain tempers that horrific heat making the day altogether more pleasant, even if you get wet!

2. Nighttime walks in the rain are wonderful

Nighttime walks are wonderful to begin with and rain only makes them better. The air feels better and smells cleaner when it rains. The light from street lamps reflects off puddles in lovely and interesting ways. The sound of rain drowns out other sounds and people tend to stay inside when it rains making it feel like you’re the only person around. The same thing happens with snow in the winter, its just a little chillier.

1. Curling up with a good book

Rain provides the perfect opportunity to catch up on your reading. Nothing beats sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and a book by Jane Austen when it’s raining.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
