Fall never used to be my favorite season, but then I got to college and started being able to enjoy what the season brings without only focusing on the endless stress that a full day of school can bring. Since most of the time, I only have about three hours of class a day, I can focus on things I really enjoy. I have learned to appreciate a season that once was fueled with dread and projects. There are a lot of reasons to enjoy what is in some places, the shortest season, and now, I'll never understand why people don't like it.
1. The Leaves Changing
There's nothing quite like watching the leaves on trees turn bright red, orange and yellow before they fall off the trees. I'm lucky to live somewhere where the weather change happens fairly quickly, and I get to enjoy the leaves changing colors even longer.
2. Everything Is Pumpkin Flavored. Everything.
I've always had an affinity for hot drinks- hot chocolate, coffee, and apple cider have been some of my favorites for as long as I can remember. My introduction to the pumpkin flavored latte occurred in high school and I've been in love ever since. I've heard rumors of a coffee shop near my house that serves pumpkin lattes all year round, but I've yet to investigate. Part of me enjoys the anticipation of only getting them once a year. Also, I'm pretty sure I could eat pumpkin muffins every day of my life and not get sick of them. My roommate last year also had a pumpkin spice candle, which made our room smell like pumpkin pie. Really, what's not to love?
3. Sweaters
I love sweaters. I would wear sweaters every day of the year if Idaho summers weren't full of 100 degree days. I don't have to worry about what goes with them because literally everything does. You can get away with wearing clothing that's about five sizes too big and no one questions you. Besides, they make throwing together an outfit so easy- no need to worry about what pants to wear, because sweaters go with just about everything.
4. The Weather Cools Down
I love cool weather. Hot, ninety degree weather makes me cranky and sweaty, and sunburnt. Also, cool weather means no bugs. The next time I feel a fly walking across my arm, I'm going to lose it.
