4 Protagonists You Will Fall In Love With

It isn't always about the story line.

Everyone has always had some form of hero they look up to. Some people look up to Superman, or maybe they see their parents as superheroes. They may look up to firefighters. Everyone has an idol. I always looked up to different heroes. I would like to share the favorites.

1. Spider-man

For those that do not know who Spider-man is, he is a superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the Marvel comics. Spider-man is a high school boy named Peter Parker, who is the stereotypical nerd. Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider and adopted spider powers, such as being able to climb walls, increased agility, and other powers such as strength and his “spidey sense” which warns him of immediate danger. He also creates web shooters, enabling his to swing around and fight crime.

2. Luke Skywalker

For all science fiction nerds, this has to be the obvious choice. Luke Skywalker has the origin that all angsty teens yearn for. A young man yearning to leave the dull life he currently leads and is forced to abandon all he knows to embrace a new future full of adventure and danger. In the "Star Wars" expanded the universe, Luke experiences all sorts of adventures, showing how he grows stronger with the Force and becoming the strongest Jedi to ever exist.

3. The Flash

Barry Allen, also known as The Flash, is a personal favorite of mine and I could not leave him out of the list. The Flash is a superhero with the power of super speed. His adventures are some of my favorites, due to the dramatic aspects of the story between characters such as Barry, Iris and Wally West, and each of his villains. If you want to get into the Flash, there is a "Flash" television series that shows on the CW, as well as on Netflix.

4. Eragon

From my favorite series, Eragon is a farm boy that finds a dragon egg whilst hunting in the mountains. This character is from the book "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini, where this boy must leave his home to escape with his dragon so as to avoid being forced to serve the tyrant king. This is one of my favorite series due to Eragon’s character development, as well as the bond that he and his dragon share throughout the story.

These are just a few of my favorite protagonists! Their stories are ones which I connected with through my childhood and early teen years and continue to do so through my young adulthood. I would recommend reading or watch the stories that these characters reside in, as they are brilliant works of art and bring enjoyment to all those who choose to give them a shot!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
