Eager to get back to classes is not necessarily my word of choice.

The unwanted time has come- the Sunday before having to return to classes the next day after Spring Break.

While I am not necessarily feeling eager to get back on campus, I am feeling several things the 4 distinct ones being feelings of revival, motivation, hope, yet exhaustion.

1.Revival: Spring Break is a much needed time off of school. Not for exotic vacations with friends, nor going out every night because you don't have school the next day. Rather, it is needed for it allows hardworking individuals (students as well as their parents) to enjoy a time off, a time where they are no longer stressed and under constant pressure. It provides a time in which one can 'unwind' and catch up on their sleep so that when it is time to return to school, work, etc., you have a new and rested energy that will enable you to finish out the following weeks until the next break comes. ( Summer, vacations, or any other time off that is provided).

Motivation: Though I can proudly say that the chances of me actually sticking to my word are slim to none, as I return to school from Spring Break, I am filled with a new sense of motivation for my school work. Telling myself that I will look ahead to upcoming due dates and events, and prepare for them plenty ahead of time instead of waiting until the last minute. After a week off, whether I stayed home or was able to go out of town, I am re-energized and presented with a new mindset that I can take on and handle whatever comes my way!

Hope: I am filled with a feeling of hopefulness for when I look at the days to come, I realize that it is only a few more weeks until I am finished with school. I am amazed as I look back, and realize how quickly the year has gone by, and am proud of myself for pushing through and learning to handle things that I encountered that were challenging and made me feel as if I would never progress and succeed further in life.

Exhaustion: Though after Spring Break I am well rested, I am exhausted and slightly disappointed at the thought of having to go back to classes where I will be bogged down with homework, quizzes, tests, papers, and other assignments. In addition to assignments that will be given to me is also the assignments and commitments of life.

Spring Break is a time off from everything, it's a time to re-energize and gain focus on wrapping up the school year. Come Monday morning, walking back onto campus, I anticipate the 'back to reality' type of feeling. Returning to time commitments and the stress of trying to balance sleep, work, eating, and socializing (as well as succeeding in all areas) into a 24 hour window will be a harsh reality. Spring break is in essence a milestone of the school year because once you return, you have 1-2 months to wrap things up until you have yet another school year in the books!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
