Having siblings is a blessing, it took me 20 years to realize it, but I did. There is no relationship like sisters. We bicker, laugh, fight, cry, and enjoy life together. If you are the oldest you are a role model and a leader. Here are somethings you will definitely understand if you have little sisters:

1. They make you feel like you’ve grown up.

Watching my sisters fight with my mom, suffer through middle school, and talk back to my dad makes me think, "Wow, did I do that when I was their age?" The answer is always yes. Seeing my sisters go through this stage in their life showed me that with time things get better, you learn new things, mature in new ways, and grow up.

2. No one ever picks on my little sisters…except me.

Girls are catty in general; call them sisters and they fight in ways you couldn't imagine. Being the oldest of three girls, I am always fighting with my sisters, and we pick on one another constantly. When one of my sisters tell me a boy in our neighborhood is calling her nasty names, I grab the bat and chase his butt down.

3. You’re in totally different stages of your life.

I'm currently in my sophomore year of college, my one sister is in her freshman year of high school, and the other is in seventh grade. We all have our own extremely different struggles, "Where am I going to grad school?" "Will coach pick me to race tomorrow?" "Will I get the lead in the next school play?" but they are all important to us. Having little sisters taught me nobody is more important than someone else.

4. Watching them grow up is emotional.

When I come home from college and see my sisters getting ready to go out with friends, putting makeup on, and not getting home until midnight I freak out a little bit on the inside. They are getting older, and so am I. Going to parties or just out to dinner, I see my baby sisters, not teenagers. Watching them grow up is a bittersweet experience that I am proud to be a part of.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
