Between working, studying for final exams, catching up with friends, and buying gifts for everyone the Christmas season may be busy but when I do have some free time I love to lounge on my couch and watch a great Christmas movie with the people I love most. Some of us may go for the "Classics" of our generation like How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, and The Polar Express. But I want to go even further than that, back to the 1940's and 50's, to the classics (some of them in black and white) that some families still love and watch every year. Here are older Christmas movies that are sometimes forgotten about.
1. It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
This movies is about a man who is at the rock bottom and is shown by an angel how things would've been if he had never been born. Out of all of the older Christmas movies i've seen this one has to be my favorite. If you haven't seen this one I would most definitely recommend it.
2. White Christmas (1954)
This film is about "a successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general." I just recently watched this movie for the first time and I loved it. It really got me into the Christmas spirit seeing the kindness that main characters have in this movie.
3. Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
"When a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing." This is another classic that most people have probably seen before.4. The Christmas Story (1983)
This is the only movie on my list that isn't from the 1940's or 50's. It's also the one featuring the most comic relief. If you've seen this movie you'd know that its pretty hilarious but that it still shows the true meaning of Christmas.
