It's at that point in the semester when the struggle becomes too real, and the attraction to Netflix becomes too easy. These past couple of months of 2017 have been overrun with mystery TV shows that I've come across, and I've loved every minute of them. Here are just a few of my favorites that I highly recommend.
1. The Killing
The Killing had me hooked from the minute I watched the first episode. Set in Seattle, Washington, a troubled cop and her partner spend day and night trying to catch the killer of a young girl. This same case goes on for 2 seasons, so you won't find out the killer until the last episode of season 2, but it really does keep your interest.
2. American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson
This one is a given. With all of the success this show had at the Emmy's, I couldn't help but sit down and watch this re-enactment of one of the most famous murder cases of all time. The O.J. case has always kept my interest, and the portrayal of this case was done fabulously here.
3. 13 Reasons Why
I have yet to read the book, but I definitely want to after having finished this series. A young girl commits suicide, but not before she records 13 tapes explaining how and why she decided to. These tapes are a look into her mind and are a chilling mystery to follow.
4. Big Little Lies
Another show based off a book - but this one I actually made time to read before I watched the finale. Big Little Lies, shown on HBO, follows the lives of three mothers and the drama they endure with their Kindergarten children in their small town. Throughout the season, the viewers know there has been a murder, but the killer or the victim are not revealed until the last episode. Stay tuned.
I hope this short list of mystery television shows is something that will pique your interest, and keep you busy until I create a new list of more shows that I recommend! God knows by the end of this semester I will have finished another 4.
