I'm not really sure if it's just me or if everyone feels the way I do towards a good film. Since the movie making industry began its sole purpose is to please the public. To attract the communities around the world and entertain billions of people. I believe that there are so many diverse jobs that require a certain skill and are so important on our planet, movie making being one of them. Obviously, I can see where an argument may form - "movies are purely for the purpose of entertainment", "they aren't real life", honestly I can see where "all that screen time diminishes a good work ethic" may come in as well. But, I believe that movie making and the film industry is one to be developed and treasured for as long as possible. There are so many things that bring people joy, we all have our passions and guilty pleasures. But, I guarantee, that if you approach the next 500 people you see, they will all have a favorite movie in mind. That's because movies are beautiful. If it's made right, a movie literally activates your brain to feel while you're simply staring at a screen. Hello! People cry all the time throughout a good scene because of how good a film can be or how much you can relate to a scenario that is being shown. Here are four movies my romantic comedy, chick flick, feel-good movie-loving self advises all of you to enjoy at some point in your life.

1. "Love, Rosie" directed by Christian Ditter

For starters, this movie includes two beautiful people that have English accents, need I say more. The tale of the two friends exemplifies the dynamic of being best friends with a guy so, so well. Rosie and Alex grow up together and they create a world of their own, holding such important places in one another's lives. The plot is anything but boring, it's hysterical, it's tear-jerking and truly heartwarming how much the two main characters care about one another in times of extreme awkwardness, hatred, and insatiable love.

2. "Me Earl and The Dying Girl" directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon

Okay so, prepare your heart for this one. This film is delicate, delightful, and extraordinary. Rachel and Greg, go about their lives separately for the first 90% of their lives but cancer ends up bringing them together. Rachel is diagnosed and Greg's mom forces him to reach out and show some kindness to this young and beautiful girl. Cancer sucks, and I'll say it again. Cancer sucks. The brutal honesty and acceptance that exhibited in this film show how much value can be added to your life even when such a sickness is diagnosed. Your body may be sick but your soul will never catch the flu or the plague or cancer for that matter so allow your heart and soul to burn with the passion that will never leave you.

3. "One Day" directed by Lone Scherfig

Honestly don't even bother wearing make up for this one because I promise you the tears are endless. "One Day" is a film that touches your heart on such a stunning level. The two main characters, Emma and Dexter, are dear friends and the time spent apart year after year between visits only brings them closer to each other's hearts. Emma is a woman of logic and is trying to navigate her soul by trying to make the world a better place while Dexter sees the world as a blank canvas that is to be painted with alcohol and strippers. Over time they find themselves wrapped up in each others hearts, and the rest I will let you enjoy on your own.

4. "The Intouchables" directed by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano

At first, when my sister hit the play button on this movie I was not thrilled. I had yet to ever see a movie in another language and watch the entire thing while reading the subtitles and the concept just really did not seem enticing. I ended up crying my eyes out and I've literally watched it over 4 times since. The story is of a man, Francois, paralyzed from the tip of his head to the souls of his feet, and a rather 'manly' man, Omar, is hired to be his caretaker. Francois the poor dude can't do anything for himself and he can obviously see that Omar is less than thrilled to be at his service. As the story develops they become best friends and get to know each other's hearts on a deeper than normal level.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
