MTV’s 2016 Video Music Awards will be broadcasted live from Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Aug. 28. Situate yourself in front of the TV with Snapchat open and ready to record a story worthy video, because TMZ reports that producers have pre-arranged four minutes for Kanye West to grip the mic and rant about his self-proclaimed brilliance and astuteness.
What he intends to do during his act remains unknown to producers, but viewers can anticipate greatness as he is no stranger to the VMA stage. He has infamously preached with the passion of a pastor (sans censor) in the past, but he actually has authorization to lecture the audience for the first time in the history of his VMA unprecedented appearances.
He previously made headlines in 2009 when he finessed his way on stage and interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video; 7 VMAs have come and gone but “Imma let you finish” memes continue to dominate the Internet. Most recently, Taylor Swift presented West with the 2015 Video Vanguard Award, but he left his acceptance speech backstage and instead declared he’ll run for president in 2020. He has since denied allegations that Swift will be his running mate, and he has yet to comment on Swift’s expected absence from the 2016 VMAs. People reports that Swift never intended to attend the award show to begin with, and the on-going feud between Swift and the Kardashian/West family is not to blame.
Stay tuned for live coverage and exposés on Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
