4 Things On The To-Do List Before Going Back To School

It's that time of year again where everyone goes back to school. You don't head off to college without going through the checklist. Whether your a freshman or senior, the process stays the same.

1. Appointments

Make sure you are not overdue on any doctor's appointments. You want the doctor to be willing to write you a prescription or give you what you need if anything happens at school. I know in the past month I have been to the general practitioner, endocrinologist, and the dentist. So just make sure you don't have any issues you need to take care of before you go.

2. Shopping

Let's face it, you have to get the essentials. Unless you get a new wardrobe every school year, you already have all your clothes with the exception of replacing some old overused essentials. And then schools supplies is a yearly buy because, if your like me, they're all lost buy the end of the year! So pencils, scissors and others are always on the list. And that aisle of toothpaste and other essentials that you always skip, go through it! Get everything! because if anyone in your family uses the same thing, they will keep it! You need your own! And my best advice is if your parents will go with you shopping, take them. Because they will know what you need and they might even pay for it!

3. Packing

You know what you use everyday so pack it! Make sure to keep everything small, the room you had or even shared at home is probably bigger than your dorm room. Most people always pack more clothes than they need so if you're questionable whether or not you should bring something, don't! Make some sort of check list because it's always good to double check! But if you do forget something there is always the mail or go back in visit.

4. School requirements

Make sure to overlook your check-in process. Most schools put all the forms you need to check-in online so you can save time in that crazy process. Also, if you need to get books buy them online. They are a lot cheaper and there are a lot more affordable options online. Sites like Bookbyte, Chegg, and even Amazon are good for buying books.

So have fun with your friends when you get back to school! It will be crazy and fun, but make sure you have all your bases covered and it will be way more enjoyable!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
