As final exams approach, college students around the country are panicking at the thought of actually having to crack open the dusty textbooks they purchased at the beginning of the semester. Don’t get me wrong. I am certainly in that category of students; and while I know at some point I will have to actually sit down and start cramming for exams and researching for final papers, I also know that I’m going to need something to do while I wait to do all of this until the last few days before finals. In the spirit of procrastination, here are 5 iPhone games to play while you procrastinate.

1. Crossy Road

One of the better games on the app store, “Crossy Road” is incredibly addicting and will have you trying to beat your high score until an hour before your exam. The entire game is essentially a rip-off of old-school frogger, but it does have some unique twists that set it apart from the amphibious vintage arcade game. The classic elements are there, with the objective being to get as many steps as possible before you fall into water or get hit by a truck or train. The game also allows you to earn new avatars accompanied by new maps and obstacles that keep the game fresh.

2. Rolling Sky

Honestly, I cannot thing of a game more frustrating than “Rolling Sky”. The entire object of this game is to navigate a series of courses with obstacles that are often times impossible to predict. Even if you are a hand-eye coordination master, the obstacles on each level are downright unfair; but that is what makes this game so entertaining and enticing. In order to beat a single course, it takes a number of tries to learn the obstacles through muscle memory. Human error and the unforeseeable traps on each level will have you rage quitting constantly, but you will come back to it every time nonetheless.

3. Heads Up!

If you have a group of friends, Ellen DeGeneres’ “Heads Up!” will help you procrastinate the inevitable together. You play the game by choosing a category, and depending on your selection, the screen will display a word for something of that nature. The twist is that the player with the phone places it on their forehead so they can’t see it, and participants must give hints about the word without actually saying it. The best part of this game is that it records the people trying to shout hints at you, so if there’s a funny moment, it is automatically stored and you can access the video after the round is over.

4. LightBike

This is one of the original procrastination apps that I played before I even had an iPhone. This was back when the only Apple product I owned was an iPod Touch. Nevertheless, this app is a classic that incredibly addicting, yet simple. In this game, the objective is to create a trail to cut people off from behind you. It functions a lot like the motorcycles from “Tron.” The objective is to cut off your opponents and eliminate them from the game; kind of like driving on the New Jersey Turnpike.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
