4 Fun Things To Do Over Spring Break At Home

As much as we would all love to go on a trip to a new and exotic place over this upcoming break, sometimes for whatever reason, that isn’t possible. Even if this is the case, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a fun and memorable spring break exploring the place that you call home. So for all of you who are stuck at home, here are some ideas for things you can do locally to make your spring break more exciting.

1. Visit a Museum

Museums are everywhere and if there is not a good one where you live you don’t have to drive far to find one. Too many people discount museums as boring but they can be a great way to learn more about a certain topic in a more interactive and visual way. If you aren’t a huge fan of history then try checking out an art museum or an interactive science museum. Museums also almost always have discounted tickets for students which make them more affordable and accessible than a lot of other activities.

2. Go Outdoors

Especially as spring approaches and the weather warms up, it is the perfect time for any kind of outdoor activity. Some possible ideas for things to do outside include going on a hike, walking your pet, going to the beach, going for a swim, any kind of water activity (such as jet skiing), or any kind of sport. Going outside even if it is for a little bit can brighten your mood and is great for your health (both physical and mental).

3. Learn something new

You might be thinking “I have been in school for the past 2 months why would I want to learn on my spring break?”, but learning includes way more than simply memorizing facts or solving problems. Learning a new skill by taking a cooking class or practicing how to juggle can be a fun way of stepping out of your comfort zone and bettering yourself while still doing something really fun. Who knows? You might even find a new hobby that you love by trying and learning about new things.

4. Make Something on Your Own

There is something that is super satisfying about knowing that you made something by yourself. It is a great way to kill time and feel productive. You might want to try things like knitting a sweater, painting a picture, cooking a meal, or baking a cake. All of these things not only keep you occupied and prevent you from spending your entire break in your room watching netflix but they also ensure that when you are done with whatever it is that you are doing you have something great to show for all the time that you spent.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
