There are times in life where I seem to try distancing myself from God (and when I say distance I mean from Earth to Pluto and back 3 times kind of distance). My first semester of college was one of those times. Luckily, my roommate introduced me to a bible study and an organization on campus that helped me close that gap in my relationship with God.
I found that in the long run that most of my success came once I let Him back into my life. So, I want to share with you 4 verses that always cool my nerves in time of struggle:
"Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” ~ Matthew 6:33-34
I found this one to be one of the most important verses in my day to day life (and also a favorite). As a college student, I always fret about what I have to do tomorrow, or next week, or next month, and in some instances next year, instead of focusing on the here and now. This verse reminds me that if I'll take a deep breath, and stop freaking out about every small detail in life, God has a plan for me and what happens tomorrow will happen the way it is supposed to.
" Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” ~ 1 Peter 6-7
I feel like everyone has anxieties. I have them, you have them, your mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle have them. So why not turn them to God if he has your best interest? It's such an easy thing to do, but as humans, we try to deal with it ourselves. I encourage you to turn to Him. He'll take the load off.
"May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.” ~2 Thessalonians 3:5
Tough times, sad times, scary times, dark times, all the time God will give you the strength to persevere. Simple as that.
“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” ~Psalm 46:5
One of my favorite people told me that in order to weed out the negativity in my life I had to let God in 110%. I was a little hesitant to do so at first because my relationship with him had been so shaky (on my end at least), but ever since letting him back in, so much has been brought into my life. Now I know that no matter the situation, I never have a fear of falling. I will always be thankful for the people that opened my heart back up to God.
