Messages That Prove College Kids Are Just Like You

College: A magical land of opportunity, growth, and some of the most unique experiences that you can’t (and shouldn’t) get anywhere else. Don't let college students fool you; they may seem like a rare breed of overconfident kids who think they're untouchable, but don't be deceived. Believe it or not, I'm here to tell you that college students are just like you. Whether you have yet to enter this phase of your life or chose a different path after high school, don't worry, your life is surprisingly similar that of today's collegiate beings.

How can I prove this you ask? That’s easy, I have solid and verifiable proof! Over the past couple of weeks, I have reached out to my peers and requested that they send screenshots of the craziest, funniest, and wildest text conversations they've had to date.. Now some of these are a little raunchy so if you’re looking for a post-church read I will warn you to hit the little “X” in the corner of your screen, but if not I give you, college.

We'll start off slow.

College students have to eat just like everyone else.

Sometimes, they are insecure about their bodies.

Loneliness is no stranger to the collegiate individual.

They even make mistakes.

Sometimes really big mistakes..

Too often the only way to learn is by trial and error, but some people prefer to gain knowledge by way of asking a simple question!

And they say hands-on learning can be very effective for a lot of people.

College is like life, full of questions…

But sometimes they can be a little confusing.

Though we are led to believe chivalry is dead…

And even though the bar closes at 2…

Persistence is an admirable quality in and out of a University.

While college is a truly happy place for these bright individuals, home is where the heart is, and even in college, people depend on the folks back home to make it through.

To offer a new and honest perspective…

To give us those important tips we can't get anywhere else,

And most of all, to provide that one-of-a-kind entertainment.

College students really do enjoy being home more than you think.

Ultimately, there are texts that stand out to us, and conversations that don't. There are messages that we'll remember, and encounters that we won't. Here is one of the most unrelatable texts I have received to date.

At the end of the day, we all just want the reassurance that we are not alone in this world. We want to feel like we're a part of something. Having the knowledge that there are people just like us out there is a great feeling. College students are far from normal, but really, what is normal? While I hope that you, my lovely reader, never or rarely receive messages like these, but have found some sick type of enjoyment knowing that other people have. This was a fun one.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
