It is that time of year again where all we want to do is sit in an ice cold bath tub and avoid stepping outside. Our cars become what it feels to be a million degrees outside. The days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are the most excruciating days in Texas. So grab a hat, some sunscreen, and a pair of flip-flops and start enjoying these hots days in Texas.

  1. Swing, swim, or soar into a series of week-long summer camps for kids age’s five to ten. These are hosted by the Dallas Zoo and the Dallas Aquarium. Many of these camps will help children observe and experience mammals, reptiles, birds, invertebrates, and aquatic life. Camps are held June 3 through August 2.
  2. Take a dip at the gorgeous Hamilton Pool in Dripping Springs. Hamilton Pool is one of the best swimming holes in Texas and is a great place to picnic, swim, and spend time on a hot day.
  3. Tube one of our beautiful rivers! I mean it is not summer without at least one tube ride down a river, right? From the Frio to the Comal River both are entertaining and help you cool down!
  4. Everyone wants to be tan in the summer, so why not grab a boogie board and take a splash at your favorite beach!
  5. One word: WATERPARKS!
  6. Dive into Barton Springs Pool in Austin, which is a cool 71 degrees in the summer.
  7. Lake days. Who wouldn’t want to spend a day on a Jet Ski, boat or paddle boat on the lake?
  8. Want to jump 200 feet into a hole? Jacob’s Well is the perfect place to jump of the rocks. Or, if you do not do well with heights, you could always just wade around in the water at the bottom like most folks do.
  9. Snowcones, slushes and more! Every town has several places to cool down with a tasty snowcone.
  10. Swim at the world’s largest spring-fed swimming pool in Balmorhea State Park.
  11. If you really want to beat the heat, go to Grapevine and visit the indoor waterpark, Great Wolf Lodge!
  12. You know we all at one point in our life used to do it, so why not just take a refreshing drink of water out of a water hose?
  13. Ever been on a boat party? I haven’t either, so there is something new to try out!
  14. Take a boat tour at the River Walk in San Antonio.
  15. Although it may be hot, grab a blanket and a cooler filled with drinks and snacks and go enjoy a nice outdoor concert or movie at a city park!
  16. You are never too old to own a Slip N Slide.
  17. Water balloon fight!!
  18. We all know in Texas, Mexican food is a must, so have a nice cold margarita with it to cool you off!
  19. Grab a kiddie pool and just fill it with ice, throw some drinks in there or just get in with your dog. I am positive it will help you beat the heat!
  20. Although everyone’s go to is Blue Bell ice cream, homemade ice cream is a must in the summer time!
  21. You will need some fresh fruit as well! Go visit the Peach Festival in Weatherford on July 9! Peachy treats are available throughout the day, along with arts and crafts that are homemade, and local goods!
  22. Lay out by the pool all day long.
  23. When is it just way too hot to go outside and need a break from the sunshine, go catch a movie!

  28. To be honest, approximately 50 percent of the best summer ever will involve eating.
  29. Still, despite the heat you will want to spend most of your time outside playing games with your friends. Like washers!
  30. Once the sunsets, a little two-stepping at a street dance is always fun in Texas.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
