As I'm approaching my fourth semester in college, I decided to create a list of things I have learned so far that I never would have learned if I didn't attend my University. So here is the 37 things I have learned since my first day here.


1. A planner is your best friend


2. You binge watch Netflix more than anything


3. First dates still make you nervous no matter what age you are


4. Paper plates... trust me.


5. Toilet paper is not cheap


6. It's good to have an open mind


7. Pizza taste so much better when it's $5


8. It's easy to get behind


9. Professors aren't scary


10. Everyone is obsessed with taco bell


11. One of the best feelings in the world is getting a text from an old high school friend with a silly memory from back home


12. It's better to talk about things than keeping them bottled up


13. Trying new things is scary

14. Getting involved is so important


15. It's hard maintaining a job, staying involved, and school work


16. It's so easy to burn yourself out


17. Your roommates are your people


18. Crafting is actually really fun, I don't know why I hated it before


19. I realized I can't cook like anything... ever

20. You can microwave pasta.


21. Boys are still stupid


22. Girls are still crazy


23. Changing your major more than once is totally normal


24. The dollar menu at Mcdonalds was basically created for college students

25. Coffee becomes an addiction.

26. You can't have a solid sleep schedule


27. You become so much more passionate about shit you didn't care about in high school


28. Your family is everything, including your biggest support system

29. It's okay to feel homesick, college is a big step


30. Everyone is different and it's totally okay

31. You will meet people who are still obsessed with high school


32. Some people eat ramen with a fork and some eat it with a spoon


33. Skipping class is easy to do but the catching up is hard


34. Going Greek was one of the best decisions of my life.


35. There is literally a club for EVERYTHING


36. It's hard but I can get through it.

37. You will lose connections with people from high school. It happens.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
