37 Things College Students Say Daily

I love college

37 Things College Students Say Daily

So seeing as how a majority of my readers are college students, I decided to write this week about a topic we can all relate to. A list of things every single college student says at least once within their how ever many years they spend at their university. It can be funny when you say to your friend that you're going to your room to study when in reality you sit in your bed and binge watch Friends with no outside communication for the next six hours.

Think about it; over the course of an average day, how many things do you think you say? A lot, right? I know I say all of these daily which probably isn't good. It definitely makes for a nice little comic relief, though.

Here's just a handful of thoughts that bounce around in a typical college student's vocabulary over the course of a semester.

1. I need a nap

2. I need a drink

3. Are you looking cute or no

4. Did you do the homework

5. I really have to study

6. Let's have class outside

7. Wanna get food?

8. Wanna buy me food?

9. I literally can't go to class today

10. I'm so broke

11. Are we going out tonight

12. I'm dropping out

13. Wow I have so much work to do let me get in bed and nap and avoid all of my responsibilities

14. Do I need a fake

15. I need coffee

16. I really should go to the gym

17. Dad can you put more money into my account?

18. So if the paper is supposed to be 5-7 pages, a small paragraph on page 7 counts right?

19. I miss my parents

20. I have so much work to do but I'm still going to that mixer

21. I hate this class

22. Takes psych 101, all of a sudden thinks they're Freud

23. I didn't do that reading *has quiz on it first thing*

24. If Britney can make it through 2007, I can make it through today

25. I need another nap

26. Is it the weekend yet? *impatiently waiting*

27. Why did I think I could do an 8am?

28. Syllabus week!!!

29. My schedule sucks *which means they have classes on Friday and or before 10am*

30. I really need to do laundry but I don't want to get up

31. Who did I make out with last night?

32. Do I really need the textbook?

33. That $400 I spent on that textbook that I'll use for two assignments is a whole lot of money I could have spent on Dunkin

34. What happened last night....

35. Is there a cover to get it?

36. Do I need to bring my fake?

37. How many days until graduation?

In the end, when we go graduate and toss off our caps, what will you remember saying to your friends? Will you remember how you said you had to stay in and study while everyone went to that super fun themed mixer or will you remember walking home from that mixer at two am saying stupid things to your friends? Your choice, friends.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
