35 Thoughts Mets Fans Have During The Preseason

This weekend is it, the official start of the season for major league baseball. Although spring training is enjoyable to watch as well, baseball fans of all ages look forward to watching all the major-league teams including: the Boston Red Sox, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals, the San Francisco Giants, the New York Yankees, and of course my favorite team, the New York Mets compete to make it to the World Series.

When I was younger I remember a majority of my family being big fans of the Mets and they were always watching the games on TV and talking about getting tickets to actually go to a game at Shea Stadium. At the age of six, I finally received the opportunity to go to my first Mets game, which was also my first major league baseball game; and while I will admit it took me a lot of time, like any small child, to understand the game, I eventually grew to enjoy the game as well as appreciate the team.

Let’s face it though, no baseball team has a perfect record, and in the Met’s case, there have been quite a few, not so great seasons; and over the years a lot of the players in the starting lineup have seen the disabled list (DL). However, fans still remain faithful to the orange and the blue whether the reason be they like a certain player, they like an interesting game, or simply because they refuse to give up on the team.

Like any other professional sport, major league baseball is not played all year round, so from November to the end of spring training in March, fans have a lot of time to think about the season ahead. So here are some thoughts Mets fans have during the preseason.

1. I’ve been waiting since November for this.

2. I think we’re going to surprise a lot of people this year.

3. Should I invest in a Syndergaard jersey this year?

4. I wonder how often Thor will pitch?

5. Am I getting tickets to any games this season?

6. Poor David Wright, he just can’t catch a break.

7. I wonder how often Matt Harvey will get to start this year?

8. I miss Daniel Murphy.

9. Neil Walker is a great player though.

10. I hope we don’t lose to the Phillies this year.

11.I hope we win the Subway Series.

12. I really hate those Yankees.

13. I think we’re gonna make it to the playoffs this year.

14. Cespedes better keep it up this year.

15. Can’t SNY just cover every game?

16. Steve Gelbes is actually a really good field reporter.

17. I’ll give Collins one more chance.

18. I wonder if Gary, Keith, and Ron could do a better job managing this team?

19. I REALLY hope Cespedes doesn’t end up on the DL.

20. I miss Mike Piazza.

21. I hope the weather is in their favor this April.

22. I wonder what it’s like to go the opening home game?

23. I wonder how good the Nationals will play this year.

24. God, I hope the Nationals don’t sweep us.

25. I would have Seth Lugo start this year instead of Harvey.

26. Still so weird seeing Jose Reyes playing third base instead of shortstop sometimes.

27. I really miss seeing David Wright at third sometimes.

28. Will Lucas Duda hit well this year?

29. Who’ll be on the ballot for the All Star Game this year?

30. Will any of them be competing in the Home Run Derby

31. I really hope the National League wins the All Star Game this year.

32. Sometimes I really miss Shea Stadium.

33. Can we claim the title of National League East Champions again?

34. Will this be the year we return to the World Series?

35. I don't care what anyone says, I really love this team.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
