35 Things To Thank Mom For

Where does one begin at to try and thank the person who brought you into this world? Even though it's hard to see past the foot stomping and eye rolling, I am blessed to have such an awesome Mom and best friend. In a few short weeks I'll be leaving for college, and as I'm trying to prepare myself for this next chapter of my life, I realize that I can thank my Mom for the young woman I am today. So here's to you Mom!

1. Thank you for being my #1 fan.

2. And for making me laugh.

3. Thank you for being strong.

4. Because you passed that incredible strength onto me.

5. Thank you for getting on to me about spending my money.

6. And then convincing me to just go ahead and get the shoes.

7. Thank you for teaching me to work hard for what I want in life.

8. But marrying a professional baseball player doesn't hurt either.

9. Thank you for the countless hours you spent at the dance studio.

10. And for the countless dollars you spent on dance too.

11. Thank you for teaching me to step out of my comfort zone.

12. Thank you for making me strong-minded.

13. Thank you for passing on the trait of being able to say whatever comes to mind.

14. Although it gets me in trouble sometimes.

15. Thank you for staying up with me all night long when I had an earache, headache or stomach bug.

16. Thank you for your patience.

17. Even though that trait was not passed down.

18. Thank you for spending hours and hours doing my laundry.

19. And watching me change outfits at least 5 times a day.

20. Thank you for teaching me to love.

21. And comforting me when love failed.

22. Thank you for teaching me to believe in myself.

23. Thank you for "buying me" at the grocery store when I was little.

24. Thank you for supporting all of decisions.

25. Even the pink hair in middle school.

26. Thank you for always finding every little thing I lost.

27. Thank you for dealing with my eye rolling.

28. And let's not forget the door slamming.

29. Or the foot stomping.

30. Thank you for always being right. (yes I just said you're always right...don't get used to it.)

31. Thank you for inspiring me.

32. Thank you for your time.

33. And unconditional love.

34. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made.

35. Thank you for being you, and for being the kind of parent I hope to be someday.

I love you Mom!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
