This summer, take the time to pick up a few books. Although we want to lay in bed and relax, stress ourselves out with summer classes, or work as much as we can to make money, there is always a little time to set aside to find a book you enjoy to read. Here are some book recommendations for those who are as big of a bookworm as me:
- "Nineteen Minutes," by Jodi Picoult
This story, although very sad and hard to read at times, explains the life of a kid who was bullied his whole life, and what he does in order to get revenge. It tells the struggle of his family, the community around him, and himself as aftermath and opens your eyes to the idea that anything can happen, anywhere, at any time. - "The Fault In Our Stars," by John Green
A teenage girl who has cancer is portrayed throughout the novel and her life accepting it. Although in the beginning she believed she was, throughout the story she realizes that she is not alone, and truly never was. - "Dirty Rush," by Taylor Bell
For those in college, or those going to college and are interested in the Greek community at their upcoming school, this is a must read. It tells the story of a girl in college who received a bid in a sorority and her life as she is in the sorority - "Paper Towns," by John Green
How far would you go to find the one you love? This story focuses on a teenage boy who has always been in love with his childhood friend. As his friend goes missing, she leaves clues behind to explain where she is, seeing if he will go as far as finding her. - "White Girl Problems," by Babe Walker
This book is definitely for those who are looking for a good laugh, and relate to it. Babe Walker is hilarious, and tells her story and the problems she, and we all know we do to some extent too, she faces. - "The Happiness Project," by Gretchen Rubin
What is the key to happiness? A question that we all have wondered at one point in our lives. Well, this is the book for you if you are still wondering. Taking on the happiness project myself was one of the best experiences and most rewarding things I have ever done for myself.
