31 Ways To Reach Your Daily Step Goal

So you treated yourself to a Fitbit in an attempt to achieve that summer bod (although you haven’t stepped foot on a treadmill, or the gym in general in… three… months). But, you promise yourself that you’re turning over a new leaf. Come to find out, getting in shape is all fun and games until you actually have to put in the effort. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Here are some (easy) ways to get that 10,000 step goal!

  1. Take your dog for a walk
  2. Take the stairs instead of the elevator
  3. Walk around your house while watching TV
  4. Play “Just Dance”
  5. Walk around Target (because we all spend hours in there)
  6. Make small trips while carrying in the groceries so you have to go back and forth five times
  7. Run away from the bee buzzing around your head
  8. Get the mail
  9. Enter the Workweek Hustle Challenge
  10. Pretend your basement is a nightclub and dance the night away
  11. Move your arm as if you’re walking (but really you’re sitting on the couch)
  12. Put the activity tracker on your dog
  13. Go on a shopping spree
  14. Walk to get ice cream
  15. Frantically run in place at 11:50 pm in an effort to reach your goal
  16. Do a “fashion show” of your entire wardrobe
  17. Pace around the room while anxiously awaiting a text from your boyfriend
  18. Park far away from the store entrance
  19. Clean the house (my mom suggested this one…)
  20. Get up and moving once an hour
  21. Go biking with your tracker on your ankle
  22. Tap your foot nonstop while sitting down
  23. Play the piano
  24. Clap
  25. Over exaggerate your arm expressions when talking
  26. Change your setting to “Non-Dominant” but actually wear it on your dominant hand
  27. Pace while talking on the phone
  28. Pace while doing homework
  29. Basically never sit down ever again
  30. Actually work out?
  31. Lower your step goal

Bonus: some of these tips also double as Fitbit hacks. Yeah, it’s cheating, but at least you’re hitting that goal, right!?

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
