31 Thoughts We All Have While Watching The Olympics
The Odyssey Online

It's here guys: the 2016 Summer Olympics. Every four years we are blessed to see the best in the world perform their hearts out to the tune of their beloved sport. Millions of people around the world gather to watch three weeks of action packed drama in the sports world. While the Olympics have only been on for about a week, I've put together a list of the many, many thoughts I experience while watching these amazing athletes compete.

  1. Wait, he/she is younger than me?
  2. Oh my god, they don’t even jiggle a little when they run.
  3. Abs, bulge, abs, bulge, abs, abs, butt.
  4. THE U.S. IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH GOD BLESS AMERICA.
  5. Wait, we suck.
  6. Wow he is really hot.
  7. Wow she is really hot.
  8. I am a potato.
  9. Why didn’t my parents force me to do a sport as a kid? They totally robbed me of an Olympic gold medal.
  10. Oh great, that’s his wife in the stands … with their baby … Oh wow OK, so he's not single. Moving on.
  11. I wonder if an Olympic athlete would ever date me.
  12. Where do I even meet an athlete like that?
  13. She had a baby and she looks better than me.
  14. These swimmers are gigantic human beings. Seriously though, those shoulders.
  15. These judges are jerks.
  16. So you’re saying she’s not 12? She’s 25? Oh.
  17. I am embarrassed by my own physical capabilities.
  18. I wonder if I start training now if I can make it into the next Olympics.
  19. Wait, that’s an Olympic sport?
  20. Alright, I’m going to start training today, seriously.
  21. Aw, their parents are so cute.
  22. I bet my parents are so disappointed in me.
  23. I would totally cry if I was on the podium.
  24. I should probably learn the words to the national anthem.
  25. I wonder what they’re saying to each other in their language.
  26. STICK IT. STIIIIIICK IT.
  27. I'm pretty sure I can't even swim 50m without assistance.
  28. Michael Phelps isn't human.
  29. They probably wouldn't be able to interview me after I compete because I'd be collapsed on the floor crying.
  30. I wonder how much these athletes eat a day.
  31. If I worked out half as much as they did I could eat SO much.

Enjoy the rest of the Olympics!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
