As I prepare to start my second semester of my freshman year I have a couple questions for this place I now call home.

1. Why are all the streets named after states?

2. Why does Watson only stay open until 2 a.m... but Anschutz stays open all night?

3. Why does lottery for Camping start at 6 a.m.? Who decided this? I'd like to have a word with them.

4. Who even created camping?

5. Why do we only have a 48 hour period to redeem our basketball tickets?

6. Why do we only get one reminder that we need to redeem said tickets?

7. How the heck do you do that clap chant we have?

8. Why are the chicken tenders SO FREAKING GOOD?!

9. Where is the soccer field?

10. Who decided halfway through building Wescoe that they were just going to stop building it as a parking garage and decide to turn it into classrooms?

11. Who is the man preaching the Bible every day on Wescoe Beach?

12. Why do we call it Wescoe beach when it, in fact, isn't a beach?

13. Why does The Hawk have an entry fee but The Bull doesn't?

14. Why do I have to change my KU password every six months? It's a tad excessive.

15. Why do some classes use the "Plus/Minus" system and some don't?

16. Are you really a Jayhawk if you don't have 842-1212 memorized?

17. What even is a Jayhawk?

18. Why do I get a parking ticket for backing into the stalls?

19. Why is there an overwhelming amount of squirrels on campus?

20. Why does Naismith Hall have its own gym and pool?

21. Who decided to put a campus on top of a hill?

22. And will my calves really get bigger from all the hills?

23. Why is the fountain in the round-a-bout on Jayhawk Boulevard the Chi Omega fountain?

24. Can I still jump in it if I'm not a Chi O?

25. What does "Rock Chalk" even mean?

26. And when are the sidewalks going to be redone?

27. Is the 7th floor of Corbin actually haunted?

28. Why does the Union have a Panda Express but not a Starbucks or Chipotle?

29. Why do some professors put grades in AFTER we take the final?

30. Why can't I have a toaster oven in my dorm room?

31. How did Lawrence steal my heart so quickly?

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
