The best part of any big friend group is that everyone contributes something different: some people are great at giving advice, some are great at making people laugh, some are great at just lighting up a room when they walk in, etc... Here are a list of 30 common types of friends in every big group-- can you figure out which one you relate with the most?

1. The Mom

Every group has #TeamMom. She makes sure you get home safely, that you are drinking enough water, and that you don't make any rash decisions that you'll regret in the morning. She's the voice of reason in the middle of your crazy party storm

2. The Boy Crazy One

This friend wears her heart on her sleeve and isn't afraid to fall a couple times to find Mr. Right... Or Mr. Wrong. She's crushing 24/7 and doesn't mind it at all - and why should they? They're young, single, and ready to mingle!

3. The Drama Queen/King

If something-- anything-- happened, they'll make a scene about it and make sure you know. Nothing is ever a small deal to them, even if it is to the rest of the world. They are just full of emotion and you love that about them.

4. The Forgetful One

Where's this person's phone? Where's their bag? Where's their drink? Where's their anything really? It's a miracle if this friend doesn't misplace something while they're out.

5. The Wild Card

Who knows what this is going to do this day. One day they're #TeamMom, the next day you're the one carrying them out of the bar. They're like a ticking time bomb and you have no idea what's going to happen; they're always keeping you on your tip toes.

6. The Ultimate "YOLO"

They're the definition of a hot mess. They're always down to do the craziest things, have the best morning after stories, and just do whatever, whenever. They have the wildest, go-with-the-flow soul that you can't help but respect sometimes.

7. The Random

Sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. No one really knows how they joined the group, but that's alright. They're like the majestic unicorn of the group.

8. The "I'm On My Way"

When they say, "I'll be there in five minutes," they really mean 15. They're never on time, and never will be.

9. The Document-er

You can always count on them to get all the photos on your group outings. They always have their camera or phone always readily available for picture-perfect moments.

10. The Hungry One

It is love at first bite for this friend. They're always the first one to suggest getting food and are always down to share a late night pizza with you.

11. The Sarcastic One

They always have the wittiest, most sarcastic remarks readily available for anything you have to say, whenever you have to say it. Sometimes you want to hit them because they're such a twat, but at the end of the day, you love the sass.

12. The Selfie Queen

They've got the "But first, let me take a selfie" thing down. They know exactly what angles to use, have the best Instagram captions, and edits. Narcissistic? Maybe. But they're the best looking narcissist you've ever seen.

13. The Creep

They're not actually a creep, they just come off that way sometimes. They don't always make the best first impression, but you learn to love their weird and awkward ways. When someone says, Wwhy is your friend so weird?" You know, "Oh. that's just ____"

14. The Brainiac

This friend is just blessed with being smart beyond belief. If you're in the middle of a text and realize you don't remember how to spell a word, they've got you covered. Made a grammar mistake? They'll probably call you out. Need help with homework? Personal tutor at your service. #Blessed

15. The GM Abuser

Everyone loves the group message... until that one friend decides to spam it with texts about what their mom made them for dinner last week. Someone steal their phone from them, please.

16. The Loud Mouth

Let's just say that they're not your most bashful friend. When they're on their way you normally know because you can hear them from 1,000 feet away.

17. The Dad

He makes the most awful jokes, has dance moves that haven't been touched for years, and looks like he just stole from your dad's closet. You just know you're going to be invited to the sickest barbecues one day.

18. The Fashionista

They always look put together, even after a rough night. Their clothes are always up-to-date and ready to dominate.

19. The Sweetheart

The kindest, warmest heart you know. This friend is loved by all because she's just overall a wonderful ray of sunshine and is the best friend to anyone they meet.

20. The Moocher

If this person isn't asking for money, it's food, or a shirt, or a pencil, or possibly a kidney-- it's always something.

21. The NAF

They may not win a race or weight lifting contest for you, but they've got the strongest heart. Their lack of coordination is just part of their charm.

22. The Chill One

This person goes with the flow more than anyone you know. They're never interested in whatever drama is going on, they're always down to go on whatever adventure the group decides on, and they're just a cool cat to have.

23. The Realist

This friend can come off a little harsh, but they're just being blunt. They're not afraid to speak their mind, tell you how it is, and keep it real with you. At the end of the day, sometimes you need someone to smack some sense into you.

24. The Introvert

This friend is a little bit more on the shy side, but still equally as lovable as anyone else. They don't speak as often, but when they do, they always have something meaningful to say.

25. The Therapist

This friend is the best listener, always tells you how it is, and helps give you the best advice. Sometimes you just need to discuss your problems out loud with someone to help fully understand the problem.

26. The Heart Breaker

Stealing hearts left and right, your friend never has any shortage of admirers, although they never need to keep one for long. Heart breaker is the name and heart breaking is the game.

27. The Gossip

If there's any intel on anyone around you, this person probably has it and will let you know about - even if you don't ask for it. They're not "spreading rumors" per se, just "relaying information."

28. The Annoying Couple

You already know. Get a room, people.

29. The Shopaholic

They are always sporting something new that they just bought. They wouldn't call it so much of a problem though - it's always something "necessary," or "on sale," or they "just had to buy it!".

30. The Sleeper

We all love a good nap here and there, but this friend is always sleeping. Sometimes you won't see them for days because they've been "so busy" a.k.a. you know they're in their room with some nice music or Netflix, and already passed TF out. Food? Adventures? Parties? Those can wait. Sleeping is bae.

We all have these friends, whether it's a combination of a few or one of everything. (And you have to admit, you saw yourself in some of these too).

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
