School’s in full swing again; that means it’s tailgate season, homecoming season, and freedom from the family once more. It’s all fun and games… until you get to your classes. Unfortunately, many classes have a lecture portion that feels soul-sucking to many of the students sitting in there. Sometimes, it may even feel soul-sucking for the professor. It’s a very difficult time for all involved. Here are some thoughts a student might have during these dreary times.

1. Okay, good. There’s a Powerpoint presentation.

At least I can read everything that he’s talking about. Maybe I won’t even need to pay attention to him.

2. Hopefully, all the information that I need is in the presentation.

It’s better than reading the textbook, at least.

3. Wait, is the Powerpoint online? That’d be nice.

It’d give me a reason to keep my laptop out...

4. There’s not the Powerpoint online. Damn.

Bye-bye easy lecture...

5. Oh wait! There it is! But with most of the information missing.

Fill-in-the-blanks? Really? I thought we were past this whole “work for your notes” thing.

6. Damn.

I thought you’d be better than this, Prof.

7. How much time is left in class?

It’s had to be half and hour already, right?

8. Okay, I’ll just write my notes then. It helps you remember more, right?

I won’t have to worry about forgetting about all of it when I leave this lecture hall, then.

9. WAIT YOU ARE TALKING TOO FAST.

This is getting a little overwhelming...

10. What should I even be writing down??

So many words! So much information!

11. Will any of this even be relevant to the test?

I’m going to be mad if I didn’t even need to know any of this.

12. Do I even care about any of this?

No, I do not. I do not care about any of this. I think.

13. Is this even relevant to my career?

I don’t know how much that'll help me when I graduate...

14. This is dumb. College is dumb.

There are better things I could be doing right now.

15. There’s a guy sleeping in the corner. I’m jealous of him.

It’s like he’s not worried about this class at all.

16. What if I just take a nap…?

I am getting sleepy because I’m so bored, honestly.

17. No. I can’t risk possibly missing important information in class.

It could be on the test, you know.

18. My college career is possibly at risk here!

If I fail this test, then I could possibly fail this class, which means my GPA would drop. Then I might not get to stay in my major’s program!

19. How much time is left in this class??

This is taking way too long. Does time just stop while I’m in here?

20. This lecture is so boring…

I think I’d actually rather watch paint dry.

21. I’ll just play on my phone for a little bit. Some good ol’ Twitter to hold me over.

Thank God for memes.

22. Wait. More information to write down.

It’s hard to read a slide and laugh at memes without anyone noticing.

23. I’m jealous of the people who don’t need to take notes.

Do they just automatically remember all of this information? They must be robots.

24. There’s only a couple of minutes left in class.

So close to freedom… So close...

25. How is he still talking? Why isn’t he wrapping up?

It’s like he doesn’t care about the fact that we have lives outside of this class?

26. Wait. He’s finishing up... I think.

I don’t think I’ll ever realize when he’s done until he’s done talking.

27. Whew.

I think he’s done talking-- hopefully.

28. I’m free!

PACKING UP MY BAG, YO.

29. For a day.

And I still have homework for this class I need to do.

30. Damn.

Until next time, Lecture. You may have won this time, but I will pass this test.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:
