30 Things All Smick Chicks Are Guilty Of

There are just some things that all Smicks are guilty of:

1. Taking photos of Le Mans at every point of the day (morning, night time when it is all lit up) and season (spring blossoms and covered in snow) for your Snapchat and Instagram.

2. Laying on Library Green or by Lake Marion when it is even remotely sunny or nice out.

3. Taking plates full of DH cookies back to your table claiming they are for your friends but then eating the majority of them.

4. Running to the DH for Chicken Nugget day.

5. Taking the tunnel to the DH from Le Mans anytime it drops below 40 degrees outside.

6. Going to the DH for breakfast and staying all the way until lunch.

7. Going to the library just for hot chocolate and then leaving.

8. Taking a ridiculous amount of Avenue pics.

9. Documenting every single moment of a Marky Mark cab ride.

10. Been attacked by a squirrel while walking to class.

11. Been locked out of your room after a night out.

12. Cramming into Blinkie after parietals at ND.

13. Taking an obscene amount of ring pics.

14. Sleeping in a tank top and shorts in the middle of February due to your room being a sauna.

15. Been haunted by a ghost in at least one of your dorms.

16. Getting a giant Cyber drink to put your alcohol in.

17. Getting into at least one fight about a Saint Mary's stereotype.

18. Finding another Smick at the same party and jumping for joy.

19. Helping that Smick get home when she's had a little too much fun...

20. Slipping while walking into the Spes side door.

21. Complaining about having to live on campus for three years.

22. Complaining about boys and dogs having the same parietals.

23. Using all your Munch Money before midterms.

24. Fighting for library space and classrooms during finals.

25. Waking up at 7 am to start tailgating.

26. Skipping all your Friday classes after a night at Feve.

27. Having a go-to South Bend bar.

28. Dancing on chairs during Midnight Breakfast.

29. Owning at least 15 Saint Mary's T- Shirts.

30. Bragging about how our school is better than everyone else's.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
