30 Things I Blame Kenny Chesney For

June 13, 2015. The day I finally got to see Kenny Chesney.

I was six or seven when I experienced my first love. His name was Kenny Chesney and he was perfect for multiple reasons. Growing up, his songs tugged on my soul and had a connection with my life. I realized we had a lot in common! This could be because I subconsciously wanted to be the perfect lady for Kenny, so I molded my interests around his songs. Or Kenny Chesney and I could actually be soulmates. Either way, he has 100 percent influenced my life. I sat down to think about all the connections I could make between myself and his songs, and the list is rather large. Here are 30 things I blame Kenny Chesney for.

My love for:

  1. The beach"No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems"
Click here for the music video (You won't regret it.)
  2. The sunshine/sunsets/sunrises"When the Sun Goes Down", "How Forever Feels"
  3. The "first long kiss on a second date""The Good Stuff"
  4. Summer"Summertime"
  5. Riding barefoot with my feet on the dashboard"Summertime"
  6. Eating chicken on Sundays"I Go Back"
  7. Listening to my music "just a little too loud""Young"
  8. Sweet tea"She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"
  9. Small hometowns"Back Where I Come From"
  10. The Spanish language/interest in Mexico"Beer in Mexico", "You Save Me"

Making me realize that:

  1. I have a crazy obsession with being tan"How Forever Feels", "When the Sun Goes Down"
  2. It's okay to have fifteen pairs of shoes"There Goes My Life"
  3. Living to love and laughing a lot is all I need"Never Wanted Nothin' More"
  4. It's okay if I can't cook because "eating burnt suppers the whole first year" is actually "good stuff""The Good Stuff"
  5. It's important to take every moment for what it's worth, because things really never are the same "Just Don't Happen Twice"
  6. Guys will say anything they want to "get the job done""Out Last Night"
  7. It's okay to have dreams like "a little farm and a yard full of kids" instead of a fancy mansion, etc."She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"
  8. You've got to be different from everyone else if you want to be successful"Big Star"
  9. It's okay that all my friends are settling down and I'm not"Living in Fast Forward"
  10. God is in charge of everything from the sunshine to the moonshine"Back Where I Come From"

And also for:

  1. Perfectly describing what it feels like to get saved"Never Wanted Nothin' More"
  2. Forever making me want to marry my high school sweetheart"Don't Blink"
  3. Promoting singing karaoke -- one of my favorite hobbies"Big Star"
  4. Making September my favorite month"Just Don't Happen Twice"
  5. Forever making me want to "climb up in the loft, sit and talk with the radio on""She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"
  6. Making me want to never grow up"Young"
  7. Encouraging me to pay attention to my first kisses so I can "still taste that first kiss""Just Don't Happen Twice"
  8. Sometimes making me want a good glass of milk before bed"The Good Stuff"
  9. Making me want to laugh when someone tells me they love me because it's not true"Anything but mine"
  10. Making me secretly want to be from Tennessee, but hey, Georgia's close enough, right Kenny?"Back Where I Come From"

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
