30 Struggles of Having Curly Hair

Though it may seem glamorous, having curly hair is not easy. Curly hair presents those who have it with various struggles on a daily basis. Here is what it's like having curly hair:

1. Your hair stays wet for at least four hours after you take a shower.

2. Never being able to go on vacation without packing your hair products.

3. Using two bottles of conditioner for every one bottle of shampoo that you use.

4. People always insist on braiding your hair, but that's not really an option when you have super curly hair.

5. The knots.

6. You go through brushes like crazy.

7. A hair tie does not last long before snapping under the pressure.

8. Your hair will get icy in the winter, because your hair literally never dries after taking a shower.

9. The hair salon thinks they can charge you extra for a hair cut, because your hair is "thick".

10. It takes two hairdressers at the salon to blow out your hair. #embarasssing

11. Straightening your hair is a huge time commitment.

12. Brushing your hair when it is dry (if it ever dries) is not an option.

13. Your arm gets sore and you might start sweating when you try brushing the knots out of your hair after taking a shower.

14. People have some sort of odd fascination with wanting to take on the challenge of straightening your hair.

15. People love to ask you how your hair gets so curly. Like do you think I know?

16. Humidity is your worst enemy.

17 Those cute hairstyles you find on Pinterest are probably not possible for your hair.

18. People love to ask why you can't brush your hair when it is dry.

19. Buying all of the products that your curly hair requires is a huge expense.

20. Showering before bed and going to sleep with curly hair might seem like a good idea, but your hair will tell you otherwise when you wake up in the morning.

21. Cutting your hair short means you will most likely end up with an afro.

22. People always want to play with your hair.

23. Once your hair up in a ponytail, there is no going back.

24. Putting your hair up in a ponytail takes forever, because you have to get all the "bumps" out.

25. You never see advertisements where the models have curly hair. And when you do, it's a big deal.

26. You are often compared to Mia from Princess Diaries pre makeover.

27. Straightened hair does not stay straight for long.

28. You can't drive with the windows open.

29. Lorde is your spirit animal, because she's one of the only celebrities that embraces her curly hair.

30. It takes you forever to shower.

Though it may seem like having curly hair is full of struggles, I would not trade it for the world.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
