30 Stress Free Things To Look Forward To This Summer

he end of the semester is upon us, folks. While we're studying away for finals and spending countless hours in the library, remember the end is near. In just a few short weeks, we'll be free from the stress of classes. There's light at the end of the long tunnel. Here are a few things you can look forward to during summer break:

1. Naps

More specifically, naps without the guilt.

2. Free time

And lots of it.

3. Bonfires

Friends, fire, food: what more could you ask for?

4. Lake/beach days

Lake hair, don't care.

5. Summer job paychecks ($$$)

Rihanna said it best. Work, work, work, work, work.

6. Adventures

Go do all the things! You have time! (Just try not to end up like this guy.)

7. Time to spend with friends and family

And obviously your dog.

8. Road trips

Just get in a car and go somewhere you've never been.

9. Tanning by the pool (with plenty of SPF 50, of course!)

Safety first, y'all.

10. Sleeping in

As late as you want.

11. No to do lists

Unless they're the fun kind. Nap? Check. Netflix? Check. Pool time? Check.

12. Sunny days

Ahhh.

13. Driving with the windows rolled down and good music turned upSundy Best is my personal favorite.

14. Guilt-free Netflix

You can binge on all of your favorite shows without the guilt of not doing homework.

15. Family vacation

The best tradition.

16. No papers to write

Excuse me while I go do my happy dance.

17. Every day feels like the weekend

It's the weekend, I can do what I want to.

18. Time to go shopping (or do other fun things)

Remember all that stuff you wish you could've been doing while studying? Now's the time to do it!

19. Nights spent outside under the stars

Tailgates, stars, and fireflies.

20. Cookouts

Independence Day will be here before you know it.

21. Fireworks

Let freedom ring.

22. Drive-in movies

Popcorn and movies under the stars.

23. Doing all of those Pinterest DIYs you saved all year

Do you really need another painted mason jar? Yes. The answer is always yes.

24. Date Nights

The kind you can actually plan and make time for.

25. Movie marathons

You can rewatch the Harry Potter movies in one day with no shame at all.

26. You can finally break out your summer wardrobe

Shorts, chacos, and tank tops; oh my!

27. You can do something daring

Try that new hair color or go sky diving!

28. Popsicle/Fro-yo runs

Oh how I've missed Orange Leaf.

29. Toes in the water, toes in the sand

Not a worry in the world.

30. Having a nice two month break from the reality of college

A much, much needed break. Until August anyway...

Good luck with the rest of the semester!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
