30 Stages Of Life As A PNM
Kay-Lynn Klug

Anyone that is a member of a sorority remembers their entire experience as a Potential New Member. That grueling week of recruitment is unmatched by anything else I have experienced in college. Unlike the popular opinion, sorority recruitment is not a cultish weed-out program meant for only conformists to survive. Sorority recruitment is an opportunity to make friends, learn about amazing sisterhoods, and ultimately find the house that is best for you. Here are 24 of the thoughts, feelings, and events that will happen during your time as a PNM.

1. Panhellenic Information Sessions

2. Listening to the Presentation

3. Realizing that recruitment sign up is getting close

4. Struggling to fit all of your activities onto a one sheet resume

5. Finding parents and strangers to write recommendation Letters

6. Signing up for recruitment within the first hour

7. Getting together outfits for each round

8. Looking at the reputation for each house online

9. Discreetly stalking active members before the social media ban begins

10. Gamma Chi groups start to form

11. One last panic attack

12. Recruitment begins with an informational meeting

13. Planning and re-planning your outfit for round one

14. Getting to the row 30 minutes early

15. Lining up in front of the first house when you're still three houses away

16. PARTY STARTS!!!

17. First party ends and it wasn't that bad

18. End of round one

19. Your bottoms don't coordinate with the philanthropy t-shirt provided

20. Back on the row and everyone else is wearing odd colors too

21. PARTY STARTS!!!

22. Halfway through recruitment and you're so conflicted

23. Time to plan for round three

24. I'm beauty, I'm grace... *trips into the house*

25. Oh look it is now flooding outside

26. Seeing active members inside the restaurant where you were about to eat

27. Round four begins with low singing and crying rather than the usually deafening screams

28. Selections begin. It's time to make one of the biggest decisions of your life

29. It's bid day morning and it feels like Christmas!!

30. You finally get you bid and your life as a PNM comes to an end as you run down the row

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

CSU

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
