Until fairly recently, I thought it was the big moments that mattered in my life. It was the parties I went to, or the concerts I attended, or the awards I got that were important. It didn’t occur to me that it’s the small moments in life that really matter. The small moments in life may seem well, small, but they are also the things we should be appreciating the most. Below I have listed 30 small things that we all need to appreciate a little bit more.

1. Coffee dates with friends

2. Laughing until your stomach hurts

3. Eating a really good piece of pizza

4. Warm clothes right out of the dryer

5. Getting really good advice when you need it the most

6. Warm, sunny days

7. Finding money in your pocket that you forgot was there

8. Spontaneous late night trips to Whataburger

9. Someone genuinely asking how you’re doing

10. Rainfall while going to bed

11. Talking to your family on the phone after something funny happened at home

12. A long hug after not seeing someone for a while

13. Knowing all the words to a song that comes on the radio

15. Reminiscing about old memories with high school friends

16. Having time to read/journal/draw

17. Finishing all your homework at a reasonable hour

18. Catching up with family that you haven’t seen for a while

19. Music that describes exactly how you’re feeling

20. Random acts of kindness by strangers

21. When flowers start blooming at the beginning of spring

22. Hitting several green lights in a row

23. Talking to your elders about their experiences and memories

24. Early morning class getting cancelled

25. When plans you were dreading get cancelled

26. Family calling you by your embarrassing childhood nickname

27. Getting a good grade on a test that you thought you bombed

29. Forming an instant bond with a new person

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.
