30 Signs That You Lived In Burge Hall During Your Freshman Year

You will never forget your days spent in "Dirty Burge." Here are 30 signs that you got to experience the lovely dorm.

1. Life was a breeze because you could walk downstairs in your pajamas and grab a meal.

2. If you needed a coffee or anything before class, there was always the faithful C-store.

3. You bragged that your residence hall had the biggest rooms on campus.

4. You took a selfie and uploaded it with the geotag "Dirty Burge" at some point.

5. When heels clicked through the hallway, you knew that it had to be the weekend (or Thursday).

6. You were used to drunk people's shenanigans in the elevators.

7. You were also used to drunk people in the hallways. You probably had some of your door decorations missing because of them.

8. You got extremely annoyed when somebody took the elevator to anything lower than the fourth floor.

9. Sometimes, you got into the elevator in order to go back to your dorm, but it decided to make a stop in the basement. When it made the stop in the basement, the person from the basement decided that it was reasonable to ride the elevator to the first floor.

10. You got used to eating different forms of potatoes for dinner (mashed potatoes, fries, baked potatoes, hash browns).

11. Every time a friend who didn't live in Burge saw the hallways, they said that it looked like a prison or a mental asylum.

12. You have a clear memory of walking out of Burge in the spring and smelling the Lilacs.

13. Getting through the lobby was frustrating around noon because of college visits. It was like you were in a zoo and people were watching you in your natural habitat.

14. You became BFF's with the maintenance staff.

15. There were no quiet hours.

16. That kid who you matched with on Tinder lived two floors away from you.

17. There was always some unusual activity going on, but you were used to it.

18. You knew that studying in the lounge wasn't a option unless you wanted to get nothing done. The lounge was the chill spot.

19. You thought that the hallway in the basement that led to Daum was the coolest thing ever.

20. You got a beautiful view of the construction of the new dorm.

21. You were super tight with everyone on your hall and you probably took similar classes, so there was always a study buddy.

22. You felt the urge to fight someone for removing your clothes from the laundry because you came down five minutes late.

23. You knew that Sunday night was the worst time to do your laundry, because everyone did their laundry at that time.

24. Sicknesses went around quite easily!

25. The community showers scarred you for life.

26. You were always down for a late-night Walking Taco or Quesadilla at the C-Store.

27. You were always excited when you got to run down and get your package once the clock hit six.

28. You occasionally ran into someone riding the move-in carts in the hallways.

29. If you had a dime for every time someone set the fire alarm off by making popcorn, you'd have enough money to pay your tuition.

30. Saying goodbye to Burge was one of the hardest things that you've had to do because you made so many memories there.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
