Summer 2020 was supposed to be the time of our years. This was the summer we would go on vacation, hang out with our friends and family before the start of college, and go to many concerts. This was supposed to be our year, but the coronavirus took it away from us or did it? Do not let COV1D-19 take away your summer as there is still time to have fun before going back to college.

Here are 3 ways to have fun during the summer during the pandemic:

Go To The Beach

Although some beaches may be closed in Florida, you can still enjoy the beaches in Atlantic City, Wildwood, etc. You and your family and friends can enjoy quality time laying on the beach enjoying a nice tan or playing soccer on the sand. Take some nice pictures to post on Instagram or Snapchat. Go in the water and enjoy the cool breeze on your warm skin.

It is important to still take the proper precautions because it is still a pandemic going on. It is important to still wear a mask and stay six feet apart from other people. Who said you can't have fun while wearing a mask? Enjoy this time with your loved ones, before the summer comes to an end.

Go on a Picnic

On a nice sunny day, you and your friends or family can go to a beautiful park with many tall trees or it can be by the water. You can bring any type of food to this picnic, whether it is a hoagie and chips or a full course meal. Take this time to embrace the nature, without being glued to your phone. Stay in the moment and do not worry about the things that are stressing you or even the opportunities that you will gain in the future. Just have fun with the people that you take with you and have conservations and laugh with them.

Time is very precious and you do not want to waste this special moments on your phone. A picnic is an intimate moment that you spend with people, so take this time to enjoy it while it last. After all, these are the moments that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Virtual Parties

Due to the social distancing guidelines, gatherings that are over 25 people are not allowed. I know that it is difficult for some people to not have a birthday party, graduation party, etc. Instead, you can try to make the most of the situation by having a virtual party on Zoom. You can create a Zoom with all of your friends and family and have a party through the screen. Send the link to everyone you know, so it can feel like they are actually present with you. You can play some music and even have drinking games if you are legal.

I know Zoom calls are not ideal, but it is the most effective way where you can have a party without being at risk of catching COVID-19. Try to create activities that you and your friends can do over zoom. For example, you could play Jeopardy, Scattergories, Cards Against Humanity, etc. Technology is advancing continuously, so there are many games that you can try to play while having the time of your life.

There are many other activities that you could do in the summer, but these are my top three activities. There is only one more month left in summer before we go to Happy Valley in August. So, try to make the most of your time at home with the people you love, but I know some of you will miss them.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
