3 Ways to Get in the Holiday Spirit

Finals are among us and nothing is more depressing than studying relentlessly day after day, hour after hour just to take four final exams, write three papers, do two presentations, and finish one take home final. And while you should have probably been studying before finals week arrived, there were other end of the semester things to finish up anyways. Besides, who starts studying before the night before anymore? We're too busy studying for some paper to turn in or another test to take. But one thing that will make these times less of a downer is to try and get in the holiday spirit early!

1. Decorate your dorm.

Nothing feels better than to sit around studying in a holiday-light filled, cookie-smelling, homey-decorated dorm. The amount of effort you can put into this depends on the size of your dorm. And if you're lucky enough to live in an off campus apartment with more than one tiny room, you have more spaces you can decorate. If you celebrate Christmas, then adding a tree to your living space automatically brightens up the room. Having Hanukkah themed decorations and lights might just very well make you feel like you have a little bit of home away from home. Decoration for whatever holiday you celebrate or even just holiday neutral themed decorations like little snowmen and penguins to signal the cold weather for the season, are sure to make your living space help get you in the holiday spirit.

2. Wear ugly holiday sweaters every day.

Now that it's cold anyways, sweaters would be part of your wardrobe. You could take a break from studying to go thrift store shopping to find the best ugly holiday sweaters out there! And if you're feeling REALLY holiday-y you could even do some online shopping for ugly holiday sweaters. They are really in style right now and even most campuses have one to represent the college. These sweaters will bring you warmth and give you some much needed holiday spirit as good luck for your finals.

3. Listen to Christmas Music

Seriously, even if it's the walk from your dorm to the library, or if it's on your way to getting food and during the meal - listen to Christmas music. If that's not your thing, then okay. But if you're a Christmas music fan and need some jams for studying or walking places, then turn on that music and sing a long (or not)! This is something that is bound to put you in a good mood and give you good motivation for studying since the end of finals means getting to go home! So put in your headphones and have a good time.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
