This past weekend thousands of scientists from across the nation convened in Washington, DC to protest the Trump administration's lack of action against one of the most dire issues of our time: climate change.
Regardless of your stance on the issue, we can all agree that taking action to protect the Earth is a worthy cause. In light of this fact, here are a few ways you can be an environmental advocate in your day to day life.
1. Get involved with student-run environmental advocacy organizations on campus.
Most schools have some sort of student-run environmental initiative, and getting involved can be a great way to make a difference in your school and the world as a whole.
2. Volunteer with Trees for Cities and help your community become more sustainable.
Trees for Cities is an international organization that strives to beautify and improve communities by planting trees in urban areas across the globe. To get involved, register for Trees for Cities here: http://www.treesforcities.org/get-involved/
3. Make an effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle on a daily basis.
There are small but effective steps we can all take to help the environment every day. By recycling whenever possible, buying reusable water bottles, and reducing the energy we consume as well as the waste we create, we can all make strides towards a healthier planet and a better future.
