3 Ways Music Is Therapeutic

There's no doubt that everyone has their outlets, a way to cope with energy's and emotions that one goes through daily. Everyone needs to find a healthy way to get these feelings out whether it be working out, drawings, writing, the possibilities are endless you just have to find what works for you. Personally I have find music to be a great way to not only express yourself but to manage your stress and feelings also. Music is my therapy whether it's yelling along to a song when I'm angry or singing along to a happy song music stimulates your brain in so many positive ways. Music can alter your thinking, stimulate positive brain activity, and even help you understand and percieve emotions better.

Music can tell us so much about ourselves and I'm just going scratching the surface of the benefits of music in this article, but let's jump in.

1.

Music has always been a great wonder for scientist, wondering why it effects us like it does. No matter what music you listen to if effects all our brains in the same way when we listen to it. This is a reaction of chemicals being released Dopamine. This is the brains happy drug, and there are two key times this is released when listening to music; during the anticipation for a song and the peak emotional time in the song such as maybe during the bridge or chorus. Music is great and safe way to make your brain happy.

2.

There have been so many studies on the effects that music has on our moods, almost all being positive. Music can not only change your mood it can be a great outlet to express your feelings. We listen to sad songs when we're sad, happy songs when we are happy, and angry sounds when we are mad and that is because music can help us feel those feelings and express them. Whether it's crying along to a sad song or screaming to an angry one music is a great tool.

3.

Other than producing dopamine and being a great outlet to express feeling music has so many other benefits especially when learning an instrument. Not only can you make beautiful music or play along to your favorite songs learning an instrument can benefit the brain in so many other ways. Such as improving your memory, helping develop patience, social, listening and other skills like such. It can help reduce stress and help you express yourself; the benefits are endless.

All around music promotes happiness and so much more. When people say music saves lives I believe them, throughout my life for the good and the bad there has always been a song for it. I think music makes us feel less alone, especially when we find a song we really relate too, it let's us know that we are not the only ones that feel this way. Music bring people together in so many ways; Music is powerful.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
