During the semester, there are many things that are often swept under the rug and forgotten about in the midst of papers, tests, and projects. Once the semester ends, you're left with a lot of loose ends and catching up to do in terms of non-academic aspects of your life.
1. Clear out your computer.
You would be disgusted with how many times you download (and re-download) academic materials. Last night, I cleared out my download history from the two most recent semesters; I deleted nearly 300 PowerPoints, Word documents, Excel templates, and more off of my computer. Your computer-clearing escapade shouldn't end there, though! Go through some pictures, videos, and other miscellaneous files on your computer to see what you can delete. Your computer will thank you!
2. Clean your room.
For me personally, this is the most important one. During the semester, I throw things here and there and end up with four laundry hampers scattered across my room, my vanity ends up being a nightmare, and my jewelry turns into one big tangled ball of oblivion. Cleaning your room is a relatively easy to way to conclude your semester and it'll help you feel so much better about yourself as a human being. Plus, once you return to your dorm/residence hall/apartment after your break, your room will be refreshingly clean! If you're feeling adventurous, try doing some laundry as well!
3. Reorganize your space.
Every semester or so, I try to reorganize my furniture to revive the room. It's incredibly refreshing and makes you feel like you just moved in all over again. It takes some muscle, though, so grab a friend, slap on your FitBit, and put that couch in a weird place. This works especially well if your room is clean and your floors are vacuumed. It's a lot of work, but it's highly, highly refreshing.
There are many things that you can do to decompress after a long and hard semester. The key is to do what works best for you!
