- 1. PVC pipes are pipes that are produced from ท่อ PVC plastic pellets (Polyvinyl Chloride). They are commonly used in water supply and sanitation systems in resident, building, industry and agriculture in Thailand for a very long time. The size is from ½ to 4 meters long and the thickness can be different to be suitable for the type of job. It can be divided in many colors according to how it will be used as follow:
- Blue PVC pipes are used in water supply and sanitary systems in houses and buildings.
- Yellow PVC pipes are used in electrical systems as conduits.
- Grey PVC pipes are used in agriculture.
- These days Nawaplastic Industries Co., Ltd. is the significant capacity that has sales amount more than 10,000 million baht per year. They are produced under brand SCG. The pipes are standardized and are popular to be used for a very long time in baht small and big construction sites.
2. HDPE Pipes HDPE stands for High Density Polyethylene. They are often used for water supply system outside of the buildings, agriculture and industry. At the moment, HDPE pipes are mainly used in government projects in the country overall. HDPE pipes have special features that can easily bend, resistant with UV, no chemical and thick so it is strong and not easy to be broken compared to PVC pipes.
Therefore, PVC pipes are more and more popular to be used in Thailand. Moreover, sizes and the thickness of HDPE pipes are various for different usages. You can notice the color line next to the pipe which informs what should it be used.
HDPE pipes with blue lines: they are used in water supply (water pipes)
HDPE pipes with orange lines: they are used in electrical system (conduit pipes)
HDPE pipes in black: they are used in general water supply in agriculture and projects for private companies.
- Now there are many factories that produce standardized HDPE pipes in Thailand and enough to be used within the countries. Moreover, pipe prices in the country is not high when compare with pipes that are imported from another countries. Therefore, contractors and owners prefer to use mainly pipes that are manufactured in Thailand.
- 3. Heat and chemical resistant pipes are commonly used in 4 types as follow:
- PPR pipes
- PPR pipes are produced from Polypropylene (PP) plastic. PPR pipes or Polypropylene Random Copolymer are in green color and are used more and more in Thailand for hot and warm water supply in house, building and industry.
- PB pipes
- PB pipes or polybutylene are water pipes that are produced from polybutylene resin to be used for drinking water pipes. The features of PB pipes are that it can be diminish, flexible and resistant to pressure, chemical and high temperature. PB pipes cost more than PVC pipes so, they are more used in industrial sites and better specification of water supply system only. Nowadays, this type of pipes are mainly produced and used in Thailand.
- PP pipes
- PP pipes are plastic pipes that are produced from polypropylene resin that has special feature as chemical and temperature resistance up to 95 °C. PP pipes are designed to be used as sewer pipes in drainage system in building, kitchen, chemical laboratory and factories. As the price is quite high compared to other types of pipes, they are mostly used in industries that need the draining system for high temperature or chemical water only. They are mainly produced and used in Thailand.
- UPVC pipes
- UPVC pipes are used in drainage system for waste water and chemical water in chemical industries, water systems in swimming pools. They are resistant up to 60 celsious. UPVC pipes come in dark and light grey color. They can be connected with UPVC glue which is fast and easy for the installation. At the present, Thailand still need to import this type of pipes because of the usage limitations and there are no factories that produce this type of pipes yet.
- As you can see, each type of pipes are necessary for industrial and agricultural systems including construction in Thailand in difference ways. The price is also increasing following the higher price of plastic pellets that are increasing because fuel is increasing in price. We need to keep an eye on news about the war stage and how it effects to the price of pipes in the future. You can see more information here Hdpipethai.com.
