3 Tips For A More Organized Room
Shanty 2 Chic

I speak from firsthand experience when I say that sometimes organizing our room and house can take a backseat to everything else going on. Whether it's school, work, driving, kids or just life in general, things can get out of hand fast! I pride myself on being really organized and keeping it all together, but that just isn't always the case. However, I have found a few really simple ideas, tips and tricks that help keep me organized and feel like I'm keeping my life together!

1. Baskets, Baskets, Baskets!

I am a basket enthusiast! (I'm not even sure that's a thing, but I am one!). I have them all over my room and bathroom and they are amazing! A basket is probably the best way to store your things that don't have a place. They fit perfectly in any space, and they're serving dual purposes: organization and decor! I normally find my baskets at Target and Michaels, but you can find them at any home decor or organization store. I have two baskets under my sink, holding all my miscellaneous items. Next to my desk is a basket that holds a few books and all my wedding notebooks. My closet has a basket holding a few purses and these are just a few examples of how I've used baskets in my room! You can use them for anything!

2. A Visual Planner

I'm a planner, so naturally I carry around a pretty extensive planner. While I love my planner, I also like to have something a little smaller that I can look at every day. It just lets me see what I have planned for that week, a few goals I've set for myself and a to-do list for that week. While this may seem insignificant, it really helps me feel a little more organized when I can visually see what needs to be done that day. A small chalkboard, a whiteboard, or even just a piece of paper would work! The options are endless. This is personally what I do and I love it!

3. Functional Furniture

For me, this one has saved my life! My room isn't very large, and two people are living in it #perksoflivingathomewithyourfiance. We have a lot of stuff and not a lot of space for it all. On top of that, I'm a crafter, so there's lots of stuff. I was searching for a few weeks for a piece of furniture that held a lot, was functional and also not hideous to look at. Ikea, I love you! I ended up purchasing the Alex Drawer Unit with 9 Drawers. Needless to say, it has been a lifesaver! I have been able to fit all of my crafty items, desk items and a few other random items all in this drawers and it goes perfectly in my room without taking a ton of space! I highly recommend it!

I could pretty much talk about organization all day long, but these are my three biggest tips! Keeping your space organized and also decorated how you love can be really challenging, but having an organized space makes everything else in your chaotic life run a little more smoothly! If you have any tips or tricks, please share them!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
