Since I have lived in Cadiz, Kentucky, for all of my life, I guess I would consider myself "knowledgeable" about the best things about this town. I don't want you to miss out on anything when you come here because there's SO MUCH to see! So I have given you a little checklist of 3 things you absolutely HAVE to do when you're in Trigg County, Kentucky.
1. Go antique shopping.

Downtown is one of my favorite areas in Cadiz. The character in all of the old, traditional buildings is breathtaking. There are a few antique stores right here in Cadiz that hold so many unique stories inside the walls. The Purple Pig is such a cute and quirky shop that offers so many good deals on some beautiful pieces. Every time you go in there you find a new hidden gem because they keep up the inventory so well. The owner Jeannie is so great about helping you find what you need, anywhere from antiques to special things about Cadiz. Another antique store option is Cherokee Antiques. This store offers two levels of various tools, paintings, glassware, clothing, vintage clothing, and so much more. Only 10 miles from Lake Barkley, these stores are at the perfect location for all of your antique shopping needs.
2. Eat at Harper House.

I am so grateful for this restaurant in Cadiz because, to me, it is like a happy medium. If you just want a nice dinner on a Saturday night with the family, it is perfect. It is also perfect for a special occasion, like prom. The waiters and waitresses care so much about each customer and always put everything they have into making your visit the best one yet. Not only are the employees the best, but the food is heavenly. I still look forward to going and getting the brisket tacos all the time. The architecture in this restaurant is phenomenal. Harper House resides in two large grain bins and has some of the most beautiful woodwork you will ever see. It's my go-to place when I am craving a delicious meal!
3. Visit Land Between the Lakes.

Land Between the Lakes lies right in the center of Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. This area is home to the Elk and Bison Prairie, 26 boat ramps, thousands of unique types of wildlife, 261 miles of hiking trails, a nature station, a planetarium, and many more opportunities to spend some quality outdoor time with friends and family. This sweet spot is formerly known as "Between the Rivers" and made the switch in 1966 after both the Cumberland River and the Tennessee River had been flooded to form the lakes as they are now. Small towns such as Golden Pond were discontinued and residents were forced to relocate. Signs of the previous communities can still be noticed in the attractions now. This is one of my favorite places to go on a beautiful weekend with my family because we can enjoy the stunning scenery this place has to offer.
